[00:00:00] Speaker A: More music, better mental health only on IPL radio. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. You're listening to IPL radio here in Rockingham. Good vibrations with Mish and Todd. Although Todd is running late today. But I have my first guests in the studio today. I have Amy and Tobias. Hello and welcome. Hello, stereo. Beautiful. How are you this morning? Did you have to get up early? [00:00:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:32] Speaker A: But you're ready to go? [00:00:35] Speaker B: Yeah, I literally, when I woke up, I was like, I'm ready. [00:00:39] Speaker A: Are you excited to come in today, or were you nervous? [00:00:42] Speaker B: I'm partly nervous, but mostly excited. [00:00:46] Speaker A: Good job. Good job. Well done. Now, Amy and Tobias, you're going to be doing presenting here at IPA, which is fantastic news. Tell me, either one of you, tell us what you want to do. Maybe. Tobias, do you know what do you want to do with your radio show? [00:01:03] Speaker B: We'll probably, like, be talking about, like, us homeschooling and just, like, fun stuff that I like doing. [00:01:12] Speaker A: Excellent. Can I ask how old you are? [00:01:14] Speaker B: Eight years old. [00:01:15] Speaker A: You're eight? Okay, cool. I won't ask how old you are. That's great, Tywyce. So you are homeschooled? Yes. Have you always been homeschooled? Yes. Okay, good. And mum, or Amy, I should say. Have you. How has that been for you? Because that's not easy. [00:01:31] Speaker C: I have a background in early childhood education. [00:01:34] Speaker A: Oh, brilliant. [00:01:34] Speaker C: So, honestly, it just flowed really well. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Perfect. And you've got a daughter as well, which is sitting on the couch. So she'll be the next one presenting in a couple of years time. So watch out, Tobias, because she'll be on your heels. What do you like to do now? We were talking about this earlier. And you like to. Do you like music? [00:01:53] Speaker B: Yes. [00:01:54] Speaker A: What type of music did you like? Tell me about those. The ones that you were talking about before. [00:01:59] Speaker B: I really like Livingston and the school. [00:02:02] Speaker A: Okay. To me that means nothing. Sorry. Because I'm an 80 street, but it sounds fantastic. So are they. Is it a band or a singer or just one singer band? They're both bands. Are they australian? [00:02:18] Speaker C: I know the score isn't. Yes, I'm not sure about Livingston. We haven't researched Livingston yet. [00:02:23] Speaker B: I think it's a. He's american. [00:02:25] Speaker A: Okay, excellent. Good. And are they. Is it alternative music? Is it country music? Is it. What would you classify it as? Alternative? [00:02:35] Speaker C: I'd say soft rock. [00:02:36] Speaker A: Soft rock. Okay, soft rock. Interesting. Why does he like that? Do you play that, or does he just pick that up on his arm? [00:02:44] Speaker C: No, dad probably played a lot of that. Well, yeah. Mixture of dad and I and then. Yeah, Tobias when we were at playgroup from two years old, he would never request a nursery rhyme. [00:02:57] Speaker B: I'd always request this song. [00:03:00] Speaker C: We will rock you we will rock you by choreography. [00:03:03] Speaker A: Oh, good choice. [00:03:04] Speaker C: In playgroup, we were all singing we will rock you. [00:03:08] Speaker A: That's fantastic. Excellent. Yeah, forget the nursery rhymes. That was beyond. I love that. I love that. What a great choice of music for you. So you want it to. What do you want to do when you graduate from school? You finish school. What is it you want to do? [00:03:26] Speaker B: I'm thinking to, like, start a YouTube channel. [00:03:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Now, you want to do that soon, don't you? [00:03:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:32] Speaker A: What is. What. Tell me about that. I, like, like, what's it gonna be about? [00:03:39] Speaker B: It's gonna be a bunch of, like, challenges and having fun. [00:03:43] Speaker A: What do you mean by challenges? Tell me about that. [00:03:45] Speaker B: I like playful challenges, like paintball bites and. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Oh, cool. [00:03:50] Speaker B: Stuff like that. [00:03:51] Speaker A: Oh, cool. That sounds interesting. So is it gonna be just you? [00:03:55] Speaker B: It's gonna be, like, some other friends and, like, just. I can even pick out some random people. [00:04:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. So have you got somewhere set up a home where you can do YouTube channel? You're just gonna be doing live, like, walking around or does that sort of thing? [00:04:14] Speaker B: No, I'm just gonna. [00:04:16] Speaker C: Yeah, you haven't got anywhere. [00:04:20] Speaker A: So you're gonna be doing that on your phone? Have you got a phone? How you gonna do it? [00:04:26] Speaker B: I've. [00:04:28] Speaker A: You ever got a phone? Have you? [00:04:29] Speaker B: No. [00:04:32] Speaker A: No. So mama's phone will be used for the YouTube channel? Maybe. Yeah. [00:04:37] Speaker C: We have to share it when you're filming, don't we? [00:04:39] Speaker A: Absolutely. So that's good. That'd be great. But you know what? If you're coming into the radio, you can. Your YouTube channel can sort of incorporate the radio. You can be doing the same thing through the radio. When have you got a time that you've been given yet for the show? [00:04:54] Speaker C: Yes. Thursday afternoons. [00:04:56] Speaker A: Thursday afternoons. So what, three till six? Yeah, three till six when he's starting. [00:05:00] Speaker C: Oh, we're not sure yet. [00:05:02] Speaker A: Okay. [00:05:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Soon, though. [00:05:04] Speaker A: Soon. Excellent. Have you been in and doing any interviews with anybody else? [00:05:08] Speaker C: No. [00:05:12] Speaker A: I'm privileged, aren't I? [00:05:14] Speaker C: Absolutely. [00:05:15] Speaker A: Excellent. So that sounds like such a lot of fun. I've been at IPL radio for almost two years now, and it's been the best thing that I've ever do. I come in here and I love everybody that's here. We're like a big family here, all brothers and sisters. So you're my new brother, your new sister and I love playing all my music that I love. It's gonna be fun. And we do outside broadcasts. We call them obs. Oh, fantastic. And we go out to fairs, we go out to fates, we go out to shows and we do the radio for people and we do interviews out in people in parks and stuff like that. So to have somebody your age would be fantastic. To have a different perspective and be able to talk to the other kids, maybe that would be fantastic. But they're a lot of fun. Two years ago, we went to the Royal show and we did the radio at the Royal show, which was great. We do lots of fun things like that. So hopefully you better do that as well, usually on the weekends, so it doesn't affect your schooling, but. Yeah. So there'd be. [00:06:15] Speaker C: Schooling's all the time. [00:06:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, not Saturdays and Sundays, surely. [00:06:19] Speaker C: Oh, it depends what we get to do. If we're being too social through the week, we do all our schoolwork. [00:06:25] Speaker A: Fair enough. Do you have certain amount of hours you have to do for your schooling? [00:06:29] Speaker B: Not really. It's just freestyle, basically. [00:06:32] Speaker A: So you have to do your tests and all that as anybody else. [00:06:35] Speaker C: No tests. [00:06:36] Speaker A: No tests. [00:06:36] Speaker C: No tests. [00:06:37] Speaker A: Hallelujah. You're lucky. [00:06:41] Speaker C: And we have a very alternative style as well. We do very minimal book work. [00:06:47] Speaker A: What? [00:06:48] Speaker C: But meeting all the milestones with the curriculum, just. We're learning through doing. [00:06:54] Speaker A: I absolutely love that. I absolutely love that. I think that. I think alternative schooling, this is just my opinion, of course, everybody, this is not, you know, I'm not selling it in concrete or anything like that, but I think the fact that you're doing life skills as well, coming into the radio is a lifestyle skill because it gives you confidence, it gives you ability to talk to, you know, talk on the microphone to enhance your voicing. Huge confidence, because it has boosted my confidence being here, but you having life. I remember meeting someone once and they were travelling Australia and they had children of a younger age, and I thought, well, you know, what about school? And they were doing the same thing. They were doing schooling as they went around. But the mother said to me, the amount of life skills that they're learning, apart from their book stuff, is way more and way more exciting and learning more about life, which you don't learn at school. You absolutely don't. So I think it's fantastic. I really do. I absolutely think it's fantastic. I think everyone in school should learn first aid. [00:08:00] Speaker C: Yeah. You've done a first aid course. [00:08:02] Speaker A: Have you done first aid already? So you still don't do that at schools you should learn how to do your account, your own books, your own money, work out money, how to work with money. [00:08:13] Speaker C: Yeah, we're doing that. [00:08:14] Speaker A: We're gonna do that. I mean, you're only eight, for goodness sake. But to me, looking at you now, Tobias, you're very mature for your age, which is fantastic. And I think that comes from the schooling at home, which is brilliant. Do you socialize with other kids? So how do you do get your socialization involved in that? What do you do? [00:08:32] Speaker B: We go to, like, home school meets and. [00:08:34] Speaker C: Yeah, I. Yeah, I think the perception with socialization is, you know, that there isn't enough available for the children. [00:08:44] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:44] Speaker C: As homeschoolers we actually struggle with more not over committing social activities because there's so much available. [00:08:52] Speaker A: That's great. That's so good. Do you do sport or anything like that? Out of school? Out of school hours or work, you know, workbook hours this term you're not. [00:09:03] Speaker C: Normally you do, but this time you've taken a break. [00:09:06] Speaker B: It's winter and. [00:09:07] Speaker A: Yeah, that's for sure. And not everyone likes sport anyway. You don't have to be sporty. It's fine. You know, there's other things you want to do and radio is going to take up your time anyway. And we do bunning sausage sizzles. By the way, can you cook a sausage? You'll learn. You will learn. [00:09:23] Speaker C: It's pretty easy. You can cook pancakes. [00:09:25] Speaker A: There you go. So you're cooking already. You can flip the sausage. You can flip the pancakes. [00:09:29] Speaker C: It's easy. [00:09:30] Speaker A: So, yeah, we do bunning sausage sizzle for our fundraising, so you better come and help out with that, which would be great. Yeah, there's lots of things here at IPL radio and we're all fantastic in here, so it's going to be great. And Thursdays, I'll just miss out on seeing you because I finish at twelve and you guys will be coming in at three, so we'll have to catch up another time. Anyway, so. It's great. Thank you so much for coming. Is there anything else you want to tell me about? Anything? Hey, what? What's exciting in your life? Has something really exciting happened to you lately? Apart from coming in here? Of course. [00:10:01] Speaker C: That was the most exciting. [00:10:02] Speaker A: That was the most exciting. Have you told all your friends that you're coming and doing radio? [00:10:06] Speaker C: Not yet, no. [00:10:08] Speaker A: It's been a secret. They'll be surprised when they see or hear you, for sure. You'll have all lots of new friends that want it because they'll think you're famous. It'd be great. Good luck with all your show. Have you got a name for your show yet? [00:10:22] Speaker C: Not yet. We're still brainstorming. [00:10:24] Speaker A: Okay, any ideas? Give me some ideas. [00:10:27] Speaker B: I thought of, like, when I firstly came in here, I was like, radio. [00:10:31] Speaker A: T. Radio T, okay. Yeah. [00:10:34] Speaker B: My first name starts with the letter t. Yeah, excellent. [00:10:38] Speaker A: Okay, that's good. Maybe you should have a competition for people to come up with a name. [00:10:42] Speaker C: Oh, I like that idea. [00:10:45] Speaker A: Maybe all your schooling mates can come up with an idea. Maybe, yeah. Maybe that should be your first podcast. What should my show be called? [00:10:55] Speaker C: Oh, I like that. [00:10:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:10:57] Speaker C: Good idea. [00:10:58] Speaker A: Yeah. Cause, you know, it's important, your show name. And I went as soon as I got my show name out and which is good vibrations, I went out, got t shirts made up. I was so excited. It was great. But yes. So thank you for coming in and all the best for your show. I think it's going to be great. And it's so nice to get some young people in here because it gives us a different perspective in life. It gives us some freshness, and I think you're going to be great, Tobias. I'm really excited to hear how you go. And I can see that you're excited about it as well, which is fantastic because, yeah, you see people come in here and they just bloom. They just get so much more confidence. It's a happy place. It's exciting place. You walk in here with a stride, you know, it's just great. And people will start recognizing you. People recognize me on the street, you know, they'll come up and say, hi, mish, how are you? And I think, who the hell are you? But they know who I am because I've got a Facebook page, too. You need to get a Facebook page, mum. [00:12:01] Speaker C: Yep. Okay. [00:12:01] Speaker A: You need to get a Facebook. Once you got your name ready to go, your page name, your presenters name or your show name, get a page going and get him out there. [00:12:12] Speaker C: Sounds good. [00:12:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Why not use social media to your own advantage? Not that I've got any discounts anywhere, by the way, but, you know, people come and see, you know, meet you on the street and they know who you are. So it'd be fun. And get those t shirts made. Maybe you could paint them yourself. Once you get a name. You could just get some art things on, some t shirts. That'll be another experience for you. [00:12:32] Speaker C: We could put grandma to work on that. [00:12:34] Speaker A: Oh, okay. You've got someone in the online. Fantastic. Even better. I'm so excited for you guys. I'm more excited than you. [00:12:41] Speaker C: I think we are. We're just calm, excited. [00:12:45] Speaker A: Hey, you will be very, very nervous on the first day. But you know what? Just. Just think about it as if it's you and Mumdha sitting at a table playing music, just having a chat, just like you normally would during the day. Don't worry about the mics. Don't worry about whoever else is out there. Just enjoy time with mum, and you'll be fine. Talk about things that you love. What could go wrong? [00:13:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:07] Speaker A: Perfect. All right. All the best, guys. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. We're gonna go into some music. And, of course, this is my eighties music. This is Duran Duran with the reflex.
